Bøur

Bøur is a beautiful, old, scenic little village on the west-side of Vágar, mentioned as ancient settlement in the so-called Hundabrævið (Dog-Letter) from 1350 -1400 AD, but is probably older.

Bøur has a magnificent view over the sea and the islet Tindhólmur with its five castle-like peaks. The village has charming old wooden houses bunched together with narrow lanes between them and a traditional church from 1865.

If you choose to take a drive or walk from the village of Sørvágur to Bøur, you will experience the most beautiful view ever imagined. You’ll have Tindhólmur and Mykines in front of you all the way to Bøur.

Arriving in Bøur, you will see a small village with only 72 inhabitants (Dated 2023). The village still has farming as main income, and you will discover that Bøur is urging to take care of its old buildings.

From Bøur it is possible to walk to the village of Gásadalur on the old postmans route.
