Art Exhibition by Øssur Mohr

Øssur Mohr, Painter, Born in Fuglafjørður in 1961

Øssur Mohr began painting in the mid-1980s and received his first artistic recognition at the Ólavsøka Exhibition in Tórshavn in 1991. He is a member of the Association of Faroese Visual Artists and the Danish Visual Artists Association (BKF).

Since Øssur entered the art scene as a painter, he has exhibited in the Faroe Islands, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Austria, Germany, and the USA. Øssur’s paintings are part of various collections, for example, at the National Gallery of the Faroe Islands and the art museums in Varde, Vejle, and Ribe. He is represented in the Danish Ministry of Culture, and his paintings are also displayed in many public and private institutions. Øssur Mohr has also sold his artwork to collectors around the world.

Øssur Mohr has been commissioned several times to decorate various buildings and institutions. For instance, he has created works for A.P. Møller, Sdr. Omme State Prison, and Slagelse Psychiatric Hospital. He has exhibited in Danish art galleries since 1994.

Three books have been published about his art. In 1994, the book “Glottar” was published with text by Frits Johannesen and poems inspired by his paintings written by Alexandur Kristiansen. In 2012, the book “Glæman av fjøllum” was released, written by Ole Lindboe. And in 2021, the book “Ljósið” was published, written by Randi Ottosen.
