Leitisvatn / Sørvágsvatn – The Lake Above the Ocean
The lake is the largest in the Faroe Islands at 3.4 square kilometers. The lake has also been dubbed “The lake above the ocean” as the view from a particular angle functions as an optical illusion, appearing to look as though the lake is hovering directly above the ocean.
At the end of the lake is the impressive Bøsdalafossur waterfall. The 30m high waterfall flowing directly into the Atlantic Ocean. From the same viewpoint you get a great view of the beautiful sea stack Geituskoradrangur.
At the end of Leitisvatn/Sørvágsvatn there is great sightseeing opportunity of:
Trælanípa, the peculiar cliff that has a gloomy story attached to it
