Føroya Grótvirki is a stoneworking company in Skopun, where local basalt is cut, polished and shaped into building materials and practical objects.

The stone comes from the company's own quarry in Høvdarhagi, just outside the village. Large basalt blocks are transformed into gravestones, countertops, floor tiles, doorsteps and other stone products.

Føroya Grótvirki is part of the international ÉCONOMUSÉE network, which celebrates traditional craftsmanship and its heritage. The workshop offers an interesting insight into the use of Faroese basalt and the skills involved in working with this local material.
