Fossá waterfall
Fossá Waterfall (140m) is the highest in the Faroe Islands and is a spectacular natural wonder
A person standing next to the waterfall can give you a true sense of its scale. The waterfall drops into two levels, located on Streymoy Island's northern part and a stone's throw from Haldórsvík village.
What makes Fossá Waterfall particularly striking is the contrast between its white water and the dark basalt wall. It's a perfect place to immerse yourself in nature and experience the waterfall's incredible power, creating a mist that feels wonderful when reaching your face.
To reach Fossá Waterfall, you must drive for about 45 minutes from Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands, to the east side of Streymoy Island. The waterfall is located in the Sundalagið area, near the bridge that connects to Eysturoy Island. On Eysturoy Island, you can also enjoy a magnificent view of the waterfall, albeit from a distance.
