Ruth Smith is one of the most well known Faroese artists

Ruth Smith Museum is located in the old school building in Vágur. (yellow and brown building) at Vágsvegi 101, close to the shops at Gørðunum.

Ruth Smith was born in 1913 in Vágur and died in 1958 in Nes-Vágur, only 45 years old. Ruth Smith went to art school in Denmark, where she lived for several years. She is one of the most well known Faroese artists. Her artworks in the museum are mostly oil paintings and drawings. (Source: Ruth Smith Savnið)
