The Faroese Symphony Orchestra with choir and soloists

Look forward to magnificent music, a festive atmosphere, and unforgettable moments as the Faroese Symphony Orchestra invites you to this year’s New Year’s Concert, featuring choir and soloists Heiðrun Petersen and Regin Guttesen.
The concert will be the first New Year’s Concert at the Nordic House conducted by Catherine Larsen-Maguire.
Regin, Heiðrun, and Blak This year, the Symphony Orchestra has invited composer and pianist Regin Guttesen back to the Faroe Islands to perform with the orchestra. The orchestra will play two pieces from Regin’s album Momento, released in 2016.
Kristian Blak has composed a new work for orchestra and violin for the occasion, which will receive its world premiere performance by violinist Heiðrun Petersen.
The Faroese people have a great love for choral singing, and nothing is more magnificent than when a choir and symphony orchestra take the stage together.
We look forward to sharing two wonderful evenings with you, and yes, of course, there will be traditional marzipan ring cake (kransekage) and a glass of refreshments during the intermission — “same procedure as every year, James.”
Catherine Larsen-Maguire will conduct the Faroese Symphony Orchestra, and Tóra Vestergaard will conduct the choir.
The concert will be broadcast live on Faroese television on Saturday, January 9, 2027.
The auditorium doors open at 7:00 PM. The concert begins at 7:30 PM.
