Gásadalur
The village of Gásadalur, surrounded by the highest mountains on Vágar, enjoys a panoramic view over the isle of Mykines.
Until 2004 when a tunnel was built, the village of Gásadalur was the only village on the Faroe Islands without road connection to other villages and was very isolated. The path over the mountain was often the only connection to the outside world - the old postman's route. The postman carried the post over the mountain three times a week. Although the tunnel ended the isolation, the cozy atmosphere of the village is still intact.
In Gásadalur you will find Múlafossur, one of the prettiest waterfalls in the world. This is one of the most spectacular views in the Faroe Islands as the waterfall just falls off the cliffs.
Above the village is the highest mountain of Vágar island, called Árnafjall.
In the village there is a café and venue called Gásadalsgarður where you can enjoy a carefully selected menu of food and beverages as the cafe serves local Faroese food and is as authentic as it gets and there are several unique accommodation opportunities.
