Vatnsoyrar
The first settlers in the little village of Vatnsoyrar arrived in 1921, making it one of the youngest settlements on the Faroe Islands. It is the only village in the archipelago that is not on the coast, but instead it is next to Leitisvatn/Sørvágsvatn, the largest lake on the Faroe Islands.
Despite being one of the youngest settlements, Vatnsoyrar has a lot of history from World War 2 and its also where you will find a lot of the remnants of the British invasions.
The Nix Statue
In the lake of Sørvágsvatn/Leitisvatn there is a statue of the Nix formed as a horse.

Lake Sørvágsvatn/Leitisvatn
The lake has been dubbed "the lake above the ocean" as the view from a particular angle functions as an optical illusion.
